CHOIR
There has been a choir at St Peter's since 1736, when a singers' gallery was erected at the west end of the church. From these early beginnings it was developed and nurtured, until under the care of Dr G P Allen (1911-1957), C K Turner (1957-1959) and Malcolm Cousins (1959-1993), it blossomed into a highly respected musical team considered worthy of being among the first in the country to be awarded guild status within the St Nicholas Guild of the Royal School of Church Music in 1978.
Today's choir strives to maintain the high standards of former times as it leads and beautifies the worship of the church Sunday by Sunday. The repertoire includes traditional and more recent examples of the very best of music for worship within the mainstream of the Anglican tradition.
Rehearsals are on Friday evenings in church. For more details contact the church.
